Obituary of Joyce E. Magaw
Joyce Magaw was born April 8, 1939, in McCook, Nebraska. Her parents were Wayne
and Ruth Johnson Wilson. She died after fighting cancer on Wednesday, January 8,
2020, at her home in Punta Gorda, Florida. She graduated from Danbury Nebraska
High School and attended Oregon Bible College in Oregon, Illinois. She was baptized into Christ at the age of 12 and was a lifetime member of the Church
of God General Conference. While at college she met her husband, Russell Magaw; they were married August 4, 1959. After her husband graduated from the college
in 1961, the couple took a pastorate in San Jose, California and began a 45 year Christian ministry. During that time Joyce served with her husband in ministry in five other states: Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri and Minnesota. Joyce was a loving wife and dedicated to her family and many friends in churches and communities. Her wise and trustworthy qualities will be missed and long remembered.
Professionally Joyce served as a loan secretary in various banking institutions, served in many ministries at the pastorates over the years. The couple retired in 2004, moving to Punta Gorda, Florida in 2005.
Survivors include: husband Russell Magaw, son Kent (Les Rodriques) Magaw, daughter Sharon (Michael) McGlinn, son Robert (Kathy) Magaw, five grandchildren, three great grandsons, and one brother, Roger (Angie) Wilson. Her parents preceded her in
death.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 14, at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery, Punta Gorda, Florida. Visitation will be at 10 am with the funeral at 11. Church of God Pastor Scott Ross from Omaha will officiate. Memorials can be given to Tidewell Hospice, Atlanta Bible College, and New Day Christian Church.
