Obituary of Jeffrey Philip Barber

Jeffrey "Big Jeff" Philip Barber, of Port Charlotte, Florida, at the young age of 61, was called Home on Thursday, July 15, 2010 with loved ones by his side at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL after a courageous battle he fought for many years. Jeffrey was born December 15, 1949 in Bath, NY and moved to Charlotte County in 1970. Throughout his journey in life, he became an owner/operator of Economy Sales, Inc., which he provided 20 years of loyal service to our community. He devoted his life to his only son, family and friends. He volunteered countless hours supporting his son in Charlotte BMX, coaching Pop Warner and Little League. Jeffrey enjoyed fishing the harbor, hunting on his brother's property and felt blessed to have been a part of his Granddaughter's everyday life. Jeffrey was a simple man, he was content with watching his family flourish. Jeffrey is survived by his son, Jeffrey F. Barber; daughter-in-law, Amanda Barber; granddaughter, Taylor Rae Barber; life-long love, Shelley Barber; mother, Lena T. Kish; brother, Steven M. Barber; a host of nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 3:00PM at First Alliance Church, 20444 Midway Boulevard in Port Charlotte with Pastor Frank Vargo officiating.
